Within the Liceu chamber music project

Florian Donderer, leader of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and first violin in the celebrated Quartet Signum, will head the classical music ensemble of the Liceu Symphony Orchestra in this concert. The subtly varied programme ranges from a tragic symphony by Haydn, written during his Sturm und Drang period, to Bartók's Divertimento, with its neoclassical conception and reminiscences of a Baroque concerto grosso, which echoes the tension preceding the outbreak of World War II. In between we will have a chance to enjoy Mozart's fifth violin concerto, a highspot in his output, which includes the celebrated Rondo with its passages “alla turca”.
