Three works showcasing the expressive possibilities of the double bass
In the third program of the cycle born this season, we will have the pleasure of listening to the double bass soloists of our orchestra, two of the finest virtuosos of this instrument: Joaquín Arrabal and João Seara.
Conducted by Francesc Prat, a musician much loved in our house, who reunites with the Theater where he worked as an assistant director in his adolescent years, we will savor three works that showcase the expressive possibilities of an instrument whose soloistic aspect remains largely unknown.
The celebrated concertos by Vanhal and Schubert's "Arpeggione" sonata, highlights of Viennese music from the early Romantic period, along with the double bass concerto by the Italian composer Bottesini, will form the perfect program to get to know the immense possibilities of this beautiful instrument in the best possible way.
Constellations Series
This season, we inaugurate a new cycle of chamber orchestras with the aim of presenting our orchestra musicians in the role of soloists, allowing the audience to meet them in this virtuosic aspect and put a face to their Art in this display.
We call it Constellations, like a configuration of stars in the musical firmament, while also connecting us with the entryways of the Theater.
