He trained at the Conservatorio de Tenerife, the Escuela Superior de Canto Reina Sofía in Madrid, and with tenor Carlo Bergonzi. He has received awards such as the Premio Lírico Campoamor (in 2010 and 2012) and the Ópera Actual award in 2008. Additionally, in 2013, he was awarded the Gold Medal of the Canary Islands. 

He has sung in opera houses around the world, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Royal Opera House in London, Opéra National de Paris, Wiener Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, Teatro Real in Madrid, and Palau de les Arts in Valencia, among others. His repertoire includes I puritani, L’elisir d’amore, Lucia di Lammermoor, La favorite, Roberto Devereux, Lucrezia Borgia, Maria Stuarda, Anna Bolena, Werther, Il Trovatore, Rigoletto, La Bohème and Madama Butterfly  

He made his debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in the 2013/14 season with La sonnambula, returning with I Capuleti e i Montecchi (2015/16), Thaïs (2016/17), I puritani, Hamlet (2018/19), Doña Francisquita (2019/20) and Macbeth (2022/23).
