Four extraordinary voices touched by divinity
—How can you talk if you don't have a brain? —said Dorothy.
—I don't know, but many people without brains talk day and night. Isn't that true? —replied the Scarecrow.
Victor Fleming, The Wizard of Oz
This Lyrical Gala organized by the Gran Teatre del Liceu is the irresistible invitation to be delighted by four extraordinary voices touched by divinity.
A quartet of stars from the lyrical firmament to revisit some of the most vibrant moments of Verdi's and Verismo's catalog, as well as opera literature.
With their great charisma and spectacular voices, we will have the opportunity to journey through the emotions of the most beloved characters in the genre. A gallery of unforgettable characters and scenes, which are, at the same time, vocally demanding, illustrating the extension of the tessitura, the quality of the voice, the intention to contribute to (re)living the character, or the apparent simplicity in their enormous difficulty.
After the impressive Norma of Marina Rebeka at the Liceu, the celebrated Turandot that marked Ekaterina Semenchuk's debut in the role last season, alongside the vibrant and heroic Calaf of Martin Muehle and Ludovic Tézier, who had previously been one of the best Conte di Luna's in the history of the Theatre, they return to the stage as queens and kings of the most important lyrical temples on the planet to merge their impressive voices and move us.
Beloved stars by our Liceu audience and audiences everywhere, this lyrical gala is the chance to capture in our memory the moment of a note, an aria, a gesture... that will become eternal.
