The Liceu Closes the 23/24 Season with Economic Balance

Barcelona, July 30, 2024

With a budget of €51 million, this season also marks the end of the institution's historical debt and the ICO-Covid loan, a significant milestone for the institution's financial future.

Once again, the Liceu has benefited from the commitment of public administrations, which continue to support a balanced program between tradition and innovation with ordinary contributions of €25.6 million. The negotiated sponsorship figure is €8.3 million, a 5.06% increase compared to last season. Corporate and benefactor support has also been crucial for closing the season with balance.

The Gran Teatre del Liceu is gearing up for the 24/25 season, which will open on September 25, 2024, with the opera Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk by Shostakovich. This will be with the premiere of a new production by the theatre's resident artist, Àlex Ollé, and musically directed by Josep Pons.

A new season revolves around the concept "Chasing a Dream," a season to dream based on knowledge, art, and opera, with the Liceu being a mirror of the current world.
