The Liceu joins 3Cat

Barcelona, July 11, 2024

3Cat announces a new step for the platform to become a loudspeaker for the country's talent and a meeting point for entities and organizations that safeguard and promote Catalan culture.

The president of 3Cat, Rosa Romà, has presented the alliances with various leading entities in the world of culture that generate audiovisual content in Catalan.

Starting today, this content will be available on the 3Cat platform in various collections. With more than 270 audiovisual pieces already available, these alliances will continue to expand, incorporating new and representative ones from all fields and all over our geography.

The Gran Teatre del Liceu, the Palau de la Música Catalana, L’Auditori, CaixaForum+, the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona, the Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona, the Filmoteca de Catalunya, the Agència Catalana de Cooperació al Desenvolupament, the Festival Cruïlla, and the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya are the entities that are joining the 3Cat platform, adding to others that were already part of it, such as Filmin, Docs-Barcelona, FIC-CAT (International Catalan Film Festival), Suncine, Òmnium through their short film festival VOC, the Coordinadora de Colles Castelleres de Catalunya, and La Xarxa.

Aliança 3Cat

Culture, music, heritage, dissemination, language, foresight, human rights, solidarity, humor... this is a sample of all that can be found, in documentary formats, new creations, concerts, conferences, visual poetry, podcasts, fiction, feature films, short films, and operas, among others. 3Cat was created to be a national platform, a loudspeaker, and support for the creation and talent of Catalonia, bringing quality content in Catalan to the public and being a showcase for Catalan entities.

The alliance with these entities is much more than an adhesion; it is about sharing values, defending and promoting the language, it is art, understood from all disciplines, it is loving the territory, with a plural outlook and, above all, open to the world to explain it from this talent and creativity that characterizes 3Cat.

Rosa Romà, president of 3Cat, emphasized this step forward for the platform in her speech: “Today we become a national platform. At the service of the public and culture, with Catalan as the driving force to reach those who have always followed us and those we want to incorporate anew with an offer of audiovisual content that Catalonia has never had.”

She also highlighted: “3Cat will be a reference platform in the territory, offering content from entities and organizations that strengthen our culture every day. Our purpose is to reaffirm our language and be the engine of the Catalan audiovisual industry and production.”

When last October 3Cat launched the new platform, one of the major commitments was to become a platform at the service of the public by bringing culture closer through audiovisual content and making it accessible to everyone, a goal that is achieved today with the new national platform.

The 3Cat platform

The 3Cat platform was launched on October 30 and already has one million registered users and has surpassed 100 million views in its first six months. It should be noted that more than 4 million hours of audiovisual content in Catalan are consumed each month on the 3Cat platform, one of the first OTTs that also incorporates audio.
