63rd edition of the competition that has introduced many of the leading voices in international opera.
Tenor Francesc Viñas had always wanted to create a project that could help young singers.
Tenor Francesc Viñas had always wanted to create a project that could help young singers with the challenges they face at the start of their singing careers, challenges he himself had encountered. This project was carried out by Dr. Jacint Vilardell in 1963 with the founding of the Concurs Internacional de Cant Tenor Viñas. The Gran Teatre del Liceu immediately formed a bond with the competition, a connection that has lasted to this day. The Theatre, securing the collaboration of some of the world's leading opera houses, has organized sixty-two editions in which more than 15,500 contestants have participated, bringing to light many names that have been and continue to be benchmarks in international opera.
This year, we celebrate the 63rd edition of the competition and hope the results will be as successful as those of previous editions
