Ángeles Blancas, awarded as best soprano of 2023 by the Ópera XXI association for her magnificent Kostelnička at Teatro de la Maestranza de Sevilla, a production by Robert Carsen. Specialized in the 20th century dramatic repertoire, she has worked with musical directors like Antonio Pappano, Fabio Luisi or Álvaro Albiach, and scene directors like Graham Vick, Robert Carsen or Calixto Bieito.
She has recently performed Goneril on the production of Lear at the Teatro Real, Rusalka, Fiery Angel and Medée. Future projects include Shostakovich's Lady Macbeth at the Liceu, Giorgetta in Il Tabarro in a production by the ABAO and Senta in Wagner’s Der fliegende Holländer.
She made her debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in the 2000/01 season with Giulio Cesare and has returned with Turandot and Homenatge a Ángeles Gulín (2004/05), La voix humaine (2006/07), Luisa Miller and Don Giovanni (2007/08), La cabeza del Bautista and Me llaman la primorosa (2008/09), Pagliacci (2010/11) and Una voce in off (2014/15).
