Free concert at Sant Sebastià Beach
The Gran Teatre del Liceu Orchestra, conducted by Josep Pons, will perform the concert entitled Liceu Simfònic, música per a tothom, featuring some of the most emblematic symphonic works from the universal repertoire, as part of the celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of the Petit Liceu.
A new edition of Clàssica a la Platja returns, an initiative of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, L’Auditori and the Palau de la Música Catalana, brought together through Barcelona Obertura and in collaboration with Barcelona City Council, with the aim of bringing symphonic music closer to the public. This year’s concerts will take place on 8 and 9 July at 9 pm on Sant Sebastià Beach.
This year’s edition will open on 8 July at 9 pm with a concert by the Gran Teatre del Liceu Orchestra, conducted by Josep Pons. Set against the unique backdrop of the seafront, the programme offers a journey through some of the most popular and evocative orchestral works in the universal repertoire, featuring music full of energy, colour and rhythm.
The concert forms part of the celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of the Petit Liceu and is designed for audiences of all ages. The programme invites listeners to discover and recognise some of the most iconic symphonic works in the repertoire, in a musical journey shaped by lyricism, vitality and the evocative power of orchestral music.
The programme includes Brahms’s Hungarian Dance, Dvořák’s Slavonic Dance, excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances, Manuel de Falla’s El amor brujo and Ginastera’s Estancia. The evening will culminate with Maurice Ravel’s celebrated Boléro, in a major musical celebration open to everyone.
On 9 July, the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra and National Orchestra of Catalonia (OBC), conducted by Ludovic Morlot, will present the programme An Imaginary Symphony, showcasing the expressive power of symphonic music through works by Rachmaninoff, Dvořák and Tchaikovsky, among others.

Attendees with reduced mobility will be able to enjoy the concerts from a reserved space or “accessible” area located at Passeig Marenostrum, 15, in front of the Desigual building.
In addition, Deaf and hard-of-hearing audience members will have the chance to test 10 vibrating backpacks and 10 individual induction loops via the IMMERSIVE LIVE system. This service will be assisted by a professional who uses Catalan Sign Language (LSC) as their second language.
Backpacks will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis until supplies run out.
The vibrating backpacks with a tactile bass system are devices worn on the chest or back that convert sound frequencies into vibrations. They allow connection to an individual induction loop and are intended for Deaf and hard-of-hearing users.
The concert will feature surtitles in Catalan, Spanish, and English.
