The classic by Charles Dickens with music by Albert Guinovart
|
Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, originally published in English in 1843, tells the story of a miserly, selfish man with seemingly irreversible scars (Mr. Ebenezer Scrooge) and his transformation after a series of ghostly visits on Christmas Eve. Written in the heart of the Victorian era and with a nostalgic sense of the past, Christmas, and the values of solidarity against greed, it gained immense popularity.
With the idea of showcasing the nuances of this masterful text by Dickens, Albert Guinovart presents us with a beautiful, sensitive, and contrasting score. A music that serves the words and portrays all the characters in the story. Adding dynamism to the musical action, Borja González's sand drawings give it an even more poetic touch. On a handcrafted light table and in total synchrony with the music and text, he shapes illustrations with sand to evoke the various scenes and characters in the narrative. VEUS – Cor Infantil Amics de la Unió, together with the Orchestra of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, offers a classic of our Christmas: art, delicacy, and precision!
