The classic by Charles Dickens with music by Albert Guinovart
|
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, originally published in English in 1843, tells the story of a miserly, selfish man marked by seemingly irreversible scars (Mr. Ebenezer Scrooge) and his transformation after a series of ghostly visitations on Christmas Eve. Written in the height of the Victorian era and imbued with a nostalgic sense of the past, Christmas, and the values of unity against greed, it achieved enormous popularity.
With the aim of revealing the nuances of this masterful text by Dickens, Albert Guinovart offers us a beautiful, sensitive score full of contrasts. Music in service of the words that paints all the characters of the story. Enhancing the musical action, the sand drawings by Borja González add an even more poetic touch. On a handcrafted light table and in perfect synchrony with the music and text, he shapes the illustration with sand to evoke the various scenes and characters of the story. VEUS – Cor Infantil Amics de la Unió, together with the Orquestra del Gran Teatre del Liceu, presents a classic of our Christmas season: art, delicacy and precision!
