He studied voice and orchestral conducting at the Musikhochschule Heidelberg-Mannheim (Germany). He has performed at major international theatres such as Teatro alla Scala, La Fenice, Dutch National Opera & Ballet in Amsterdam, Opéra de Lyon, Grand Théâtre de Genève, Opéra du Rhin-Strasbourg, Teatro Real, and the Gran Teatre del Liceu. He has worked under stage directors such as David McVicar, Christof Loy, Willy Decker, Laurent Pelly, and Robert Carsen, and with conductors including Daniele Callegari, Lorenzo Viotti, Alain Altinoglu, Daniel Oren, Neville Marriner, Ottavio Dantone, and Riccardo Frizza, among others.

His portrayals of Don Pasquale (Don Pasquale), Bartolo (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Dulcamara (L’Elisir d’Amore), Don Magnifico (La Cenerentola), Leporello (Don Giovanni), and Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte) have been praised for both his vocal and interpretive skills as well as his outstanding acting talent.

Recognised as one of Europe's leading lieder performers, he has given recitals featuring works such as Winterreise Op. 89, Schwanengesang D.957 (Schubert), Dichterliebe Op. 48, Liederkreis Op. 24 and Op. 39 (Schumann), as well as songs by Vaughan Williams, Toldrà, Mompou, and Ortega, among others. A Grammy Award nominee, he has recorded for Deutsche Grammophon, Harmonia Mundi, Columna Música, and Opus Arte.

As an artistic director and cultural manager, he founded and led LIFE Victoria until 2016, is a professor in the Cultural Management Master’s programs at Universidad Carlos III and Universidad Complutense, and has collaborated on various projects with the Ministry of Culture, the National Council for Culture and the Arts (CoNCA), the ”la Caixa” Foundation, and the Peralada Festival.
