George Andguladze was born in Tbilisi, Georgia. From an early age he sang in churches and with Georgian folk choirs. He first graduated in piano and choral conducting before moving to Italy, where he completed his studies in opera singing at the Conservatories of Parma and Reggio Emilia. He later continued his training at the Accademia Voci Verdiane in Busseto.
Since 2009 he has developed an international career, appearing at major opera houses including Teatro San Carlo in Naples, the Royal Opera House in London, Staatsoper Berlin, Teatro Real Madrid, Arena di Verona, Hamburg State Opera, Teatro Massimo Palermo, Opéra de Monte-Carlo, Teatro Regio di Parma, Teatro Colón Buenos Aires, Hong Kong Opera, Seoul Arts Center and the Savonlinna Opera Festival, among many others.
He has collaborated with conductors such as Daniel Oren, Nicola Luisotti, Michele Mariotti, Giacomo Sagripanti, Jeffrey Tate, Gianluigi Gelmetti, Diego Fasolis, Giampaolo Bisanti and Pier Giorgio Morandi.
His repertoire includes many of the great bass roles of the Italian repertoire, including Filippo II (Don Carlo), Zaccaria (Nabucco), Fiesco (Simon Boccanegra), Oroveso (Norma), Ramfis (Aida), Timur (Turandot), Raimondo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Sparafucile (Rigoletto), the Commendatore (Don Giovanni), Don Basilio (Il barbiere di Siviglia) and Massimiliano (I masnadieri), as well as Verdi’s Requiem.
He makes his debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu.
