Dreams are landscapes of shadows and light, fragments of a universe that only art can make tangible
From November 22 to December 15, 2025
Hall of Mirrors
Guzmán unfolds a universe where the boundaries of matter dissolve, giving way to forms that seem to emerge from a dreamlike state. His sculptures, created from dreams and using materials such as aluminum, become bridges between the tangible and the intangible. Each piece appears as a snapshot of a dream, capturing a fleeting moment and transforming it into a permanent work that invites contemplation.
His work plays with concepts such as gravity and balance, as Guzmán combines delicate structures with heavy materials, creating a dialogue between fragility and strength. These sculptures not only speak to us about the act of dreaming but also about the human condition: a precarious balance between desires and reality, between what we imagine and what we can achieve.
Also the creator of installations designed as immersive journeys, Guzmán transforms the exhibition space into a stage where sculptures interact with light, shadows, and spectators. Seeking theatricality, his works do not simply occupy a physical space but instead create atmospheres that invite reflection and emotional connection.
In this context, Guzmán aims to establish an intimate relationship between the artwork and the viewer. Each piece acts as a mirror, reflecting the experiences and aspirations of those who contemplate it. This ability to generate multiple meanings is one of the keys to his success: his dreams are not only his own but also ours.
Guzmán reaffirms his place as one of the great storytellers of contemporary sculpture. His work transcends form and material to become a vehicle for thought and emotion, a space where the boundaries of reality fade and dreams come to life. The Gran Teatre del Liceu invites Guzmán to undertake a personal and familial exorcism through the aria “Una furtiva lagrima” from L’elisir d’amore, opening a window into his creative universe while also extending an invitation to rediscover the transformative power of art. As the artist himself says: “Dreams are the first sculptures we create; my work is to give them volume and voice.”
Gonzalo Guzmán (Madrid, 1991) is one of the most evocative sculptors in contemporary art, capable of transforming dreams into tangible forms and giving poetic voice to materials. Trained in Industrial Design at Elisava (Barcelona) and ECAL (Switzerland), his work is based on the fusion of imagination and matter, creating pieces that challenge perception and explore the boundaries between reality and the dreamlike.
After beginning his career in the world of design, Guzmán transitioned to sculpture with the AFTER series, presented at Utopía 126 in Barcelona during his first solo exhibition. Conceived during the lockdown, this work transformed the shapes that appeared in his dreams into metallic volumes: megalithic structures, symbolic dolmens, suggesting a dialogue between memory, the subconscious, and the permanence of emotions.
In 2023, his work gained new recognition at Galería Senda as part of Art Nou with Colisión, an exhibition where stainless steel became the medium for an exploration of perception and the fragility of reality. The central piece, a three-meter stalactite suspended over a reflective surface, suggested an imminent collision that never actually occurred, evoking the tension between matter and the ephemeral, between the visible and the invisible.
