Isaac Galán was born in Zaragoza and studied at the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid with Teresa Berganza, Tom Krause and Manuel Cid, and finished his education at the Opera Studio of Opernhaus Zurich. He has worked as a soloist with conductors such as Jesús López Cobos, Ottavio Dantone, Sir Andrew Davis, Plácido Domingo, Pablo Heras-Casado, Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti or Alberto Zedda and in productions of David Alden, Vicent Boussard, Giancarlo del Mónaco, Damiano Michieletto, Laurent Pelly, Emilio Sagi or Krzysztof Warlikowski.
His repertoire includes roles such as Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Conte (Le nozze di Figaro), Lescaut (Manon), Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), Malatesta (Don Pasquale), Belcore (L’elisir d’amore), Schaunard (La bohème), Silvio (Pagliacci) and Kilian (Der Freischütz), performed at a diverse range of national theatres including Teatro Real Madrid, Gran Teatro del Liceu Barcelona, Palau de les Arts Valencia, Ópera de Oviedo, the Pfingstfestspiele Salzburg, Festival di Ravenna, Teatro Manuel Malta, Opéra National de Montpellier, Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz Munich, Oper Graz or Teatro Colón.
He made his debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in the 2004/05 season with Carlo Goldoni i l’òpera and returned with Les contes d’Hoffmann (2012/13), Cendrillon (2013/14), La bohème (2015/16), La fille du régiment (2016/17), Roméo et Juliette (2017/18), Madama Butterfly (2018/19) and Doña Francisquita (2019/20).
