Born in Novosibirsk, Ivan Gygnazov graduated from the M.I. Glinka Novosibirsk State Conservatory in 2013, where he studied under the guidance of Marina Akhmedova. From 2013 to 2017, he worked as a soloist for the Novosibirsk Opera, where he performed leading operatic roles such as Lensky in Eugene Onegin, Vladimir Igorevich in Prince Igor, and Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly. Since 2017 Ivan is one of the main soloists at the Helikon Opera in Moscow.
In 2019, Ivan Gyngazov made his first appearance at the Theater an der Wien as Vaudémont in Iolanta and Huldbrand in Tchaikovsky’s Undine. That same year, he debuted at the Mariinsky Theatre as Riccardo in Un ballo in maschera, at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari as Lensky in Eugene Onegin, and at the Semperoper Dresden as Ismaele in Nabucco. In 2020 he made his debut at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow in the title role in Sadko in a new production by Dmitri Tcherniakov and since then Ivan is a guest soloist at the Bolshoi Theatre.
During 2021-2024 years he made his debuts at the Opera de Paris (Bastille) in concerts dedicated to Tchaikovsky, Calaf in Turandot at the Sydney Opera House and Hong-Kong, Manrico in il trovatore at Teatro Sao Carlos in Lisbon, Samson in Samson et Dalilah (Tenerife) and Jose in Carmen at the Staatsoper Berlin. In 2024 Ivan made his as Calaf in Turandot at the Wiener Staatsoper. In 2025 he performed at the Bayerische Staatsoper in the premiere of Cavalleria rusticana and made his debut at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in Pique Dame.
At the Mariinsky Theatre, Ivan's repertoire includes roles such as Bogdan Sobinin in A Life for the Tsar, Vladimir Igorevich in Prince Igor, Vaudémont in Iolanta, Sadko in Sadko, Manrico in Il trovatore, Riccardo in Un ballo in maschera, Luigi in Il tabarro (chamber version), Benvenuto Cellini in Benvenuto Cellini, Énée in Les Troyens, José in Carmen, Hermann in Pique Dame and Samson in Samson et Dalila.
Highlights in the 2025/2026 season include Aida in Hong Kong, Turandot at the SemperOper in Dresden and at the Staatsoper in Stuttgart and Tosca at the Wiener Staatsoper.
He makes his debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu.
