José Antonio López is currently enjoying a remarkable career, as evidenced by recent successes such as performing Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the LA Phil and the Rotterdam Philharmonic, Mahler’s Eighth Symphony with the Cincinnati Symphony, and El retablo de Maese Pedro with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. His trajectory has also taken him to renowned venues such as the Berliner Philharmonie, London’s Barbican, Vienna’s Musikverein, Theater an der Wien, Salzburg’s Mozarteum, Opéra de Lausanne, and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, as well as to the festivals of Halle, Schwetzingen, and Innsbruck, and the major Spanish concert halls and festivals. His repertoire ranges from Bach and Händel to contemporary music. 

José Antonio López has worked with leading conductors such as David Afkham, Gerd Albrecht, Andrey Boreyko, Ivor Bolton, James Conlon, Marzena Diakun, Gustavo Dudamel, Iván Fischer, Marta Gardolinska, Pablo Heras-Casado, Christopher Hogwood, Nicola Luisotti, Lorin Maazel, Andrea Marcon, Sir Neville Marriner, Salvador Mas, Juanjo Mena, Gianandrea Noseda, Víctor Pablo Pérez, Maurizio Pollini, Josep Pons, Christophe Rousset, Lahav Shani, and Masaaki Suzuki, among others. 

He made his debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in the 2016/17 season with Mozart’s Requiem and has since returned with Un rèquiem alemany (2017/18), L’enigma di Lea (2018/19), Ariadne auf Naxos, and Mite i tragèdia d’Electra i Èdip (2021/22).
