La jove Aïda reinvents Verdi through virtual reality, retrofuturism, and contemporary emotion.
|
La jove Aïda offers us a reinterpretation of Verdi’s iconic Aida, with musical arrangements that combine the essence of the original opera with new compositions. Exploring the permeability of the boundaries between reality and fiction, the dramaturgy of La jove Aïda, places us in a virtual world in which Aina, the young protagonist of this story, will make the conflicts and emotions of the characters in Verdi’s opera her own and will lead us to reflect on what is real in what we experience in fiction and what is fictional in what we experience in reality.
A technological and audiovisual staging that recreates the retrofuturistic aesthetic of the earliest video games and at the same time allows a contemporary reinterpretation of the iconic set design that Josep Mestres Cabanes created in 1945 at the Liceu for the opera Aida.
In collaboration with the Fundació Òpera a Catalunya, La jove Aïda arrives at the Gran Teatre del Liceu and continues its tour across Catalonia on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Petit Liceu.
