Born in Madrid, mezzo-soprano Laura Orueta studied at the Escuela Superior de Canto in Madrid, where she received the “Lola Rodríguez Aragón” graduation award. She later joined the Centre de Perfeccionament at Palau de les Arts in Valencia and the Crescendo programme at Teatro Real in Madrid. 

In the 2025/26 season, she will be part of the International Opera Studio of the Staatsoper Stuttgart, performing in Die Zauberflöte, Carmen, and Il barbiere di Siviglia, and will make her debut with Fundació Òpera Catalunya as Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro. 

She has performed roles such as Dinah (Trouble in Tahiti), Sacerdotessa (Aida), Kuchtik (Rusalka), Karolka (Jenůfa), Mercedes (Carmen), Dido (Dido and Aeneas), and Speranza (L’Orfeo). She has appeared at Teatro Real, Palau de les Arts, Teatro Cervantes, Fundación Juan March, the Auditorio Nacional, and at international festivals such as Musikfestspiele Potsdam Sanssouci, Styriarte, and the Monteverdi Festival. 

She has worked with conductors such as Gustavo Gimeno, Cornelius Meister, and Francesco Corti, and with stage directors including Jetske Mijnssen, Christof Loy, and Ted Huffman. 
She makes her debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu.
