Domènec Terradellas (Barcelona, 1713 - Rome, 1751) was the most renowned Catalan composer of the 18th century, with a fascinating artistic life and a rich, brilliant body of work.
La Merope is an opera that explores the boundaries of destiny, despair, and unconditional love. With delicate music and an intense storyline set in the ancient Greek world, it unveils the complexity of human relationships in a context of epic struggle and pain. This piece was one of the most remarkable works of his career and one of the most ambitious in his operatic production.
The conference will be presented by Oriol Pérez Treviño (Manresa, 1972), musicologist and essayist, who has dedicated his career to teaching, writing, and musical criticism.
