
Soprano Miina-Liisa Värelä has impressed audiences and critics alike as Die Färberin in new productions of Die Frau ohne Schatten at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, conducted by Kirill Petrenko with the Berliner Philharmoniker, and at the Semperoper Dresden under Christian Thielemann; as Isolde in Tristan und Isolde with the Los Angeles Philharmonic conducted by Gustavo Dudamel, at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera with Robin Ticciati, and at the BBC Proms in London, as well as in concert with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra under Tarmo Peltokoski.
Other recent successes include Värelä’s debut as Leonore in Beethoven’s Fidelio at the Canadian Opera Company and at Tampere Hall, the title role in Ariadne auf Naxos at the Gran Teatre del Liceu and the Finnish National Opera, Ortrud in Wagner’s Lohengrin at the Salzburg Landestheater and Oper Frankfurt, Tosca at the Savonlinna Festival, and Elektra at the Landestheater Linz.
This season, she joins Dalia Stasevska and the Lahti Symphony Orchestra to perform Sibelius’s Kullervo, Tarmo Peltokoski and the Danish National Symphony Orchestra for Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 14, and Andris Poga and the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra for Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder.
She made her debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu on the 2021/22 season with Ariadne auf Naxos.
