Barcelona, January 31, 2024. The Board of Trustees of the Gran Teatre del Liceu Foundation, chaired by Salvador Alemany, has also approved the annual accounts of the 2022/23 season. The results maintain the economic balance in the season's operation with ordinary income of 52.4 million euros against expenses of 49.6 million euros, resulting in a positive result of 2.8 million euros.
Public administrations have once again demonstrated their commitment this season with total contributions of 28 million euros. The support from companies, benefactors, and subscribers has also been crucial to closing the season in balance. The negotiated figure for sponsorship in the 22/23 season is 7.9 million euros, reaching a record figure and surpassing the 15% budget threshold. A program of support for the Liceu is consolidated, constantly evolving and adapting to business needs, reinforcing the cultural and artistic project of the Teatre.
The 22/23 season had 273,000 spectators, a 3% increase compared to the 21/22 season. Overall employment was 82% (two points higher than before), and about 30 performances were sold out.
In total, in the 22/23 season, there were a total of 202 performances: 91 operas, 17 dances, 20 concerts, and 74 performances of El Petit Liceu. This current season, 2023/2024, will allow overcoming the historical debt of the Teatre.
