Constellations: new opportunities to experience the Liceu Orchestra in unique formats

Barcelona, October 1, 2025

The Gran Teatre del Liceu presents two new events in the ‘Constel·lacions’ series, where the Orchestra’s musicians perform works in ensembles that go beyond traditional chamber music. On October 4 and 5, the Foyer of the Gran Teatre del Liceu will host two events featuring the Orchestra’s musicians and soloists, the power and expressiveness of the brass instruments, and the subtlety of the Vivaldian Baroque universe.

Constel·lacions Series I

Saturday, October 4 at 6:00 PM. A program dedicated to the richness of brass instruments

The Constel·lacions Series I will bring together the Brass Ensemble of the Liceu, made up of the Orchestra’s brass musicians, under the direction of Alessio Allegrini. The program spans centuries of music and genres, featuring the solemnity of Canzona XI by Giovanni Gabrieli, the intensity of Possente spirto by Claudio Monteverdi, the freshness of Appalachian Spring by Aaron Copland, the monumental Te Deum H.146 by Marc-Antoine Charpentier, and the imposing sonic palette of Pini di Roma by Ottorino Respighi.

This concert highlights the immense timbral possibilities of brass instruments, which shine both in subtlety and collective grandeur. The Liceu Brass Ensemble is a unique formation that brings together the Orchestra’s brass sections to deliver concerts full of power and expressiveness. With a repertoire ranging from classical works to contemporary adaptations, this ensemble explores the vast timbral and sonic possibilities of its instruments.
