Guardans takes over from Luis Herrero. Elisa Durán Montolío remains as vice president representing the "la Caixa" Banking Foundation.
Barcelona, January 31, 2024. Helena Guardans has been unanimously chosen as the new president of the Gran Teatre del Liceu Foundation's Patronage Council, proposed by the theater's presidency and general management. Guardans takes over from Luis Herrero.
Elisa Durán Montolío remains as vice president representing the "la Caixa" Foundation. Both the president and vice president are part of the Board of Trustees of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, along with two additional vice presidents of patronage, Eduardo Navarro representing Telefónica, in this case represented by Chema Casas, and Rosario Cabané Bienert, president of the Board of Benefactors.
With this change, the aim is to give more weight to private representation, strengthening resource acquisition and consolidating this branch of funding outlined in the new Strategic Plan (2023-26).
In her first words as president of the Patronage Council, Guardans mentioned her connection with culture and, especially, with the Liceu, as well as her ties to the city of Barcelona, highlighting its cosmopolitan and open character and the significant role that culture plays there. Guardans assured that as president of the Liceu Patronage Council, she will bring experience to the institution and commitment to Barcelona and, in the medium term, aims to create a working team to maintain a closer relationship with the Council and its members.
