Two unforgettable productions: Verdi’s La traviata and Puccini’s Turandot
The Gran Teatre del Liceu and Madrid’s Teatro Real will offer, through their respective platforms, two major repertoire titles with free access.
On Liceu OPERA+, Verdi’s La traviata can be seen in the striking production by David McVicar, which breaks away from the glamorous and colorful image of traditional versions to create a symbolist and powerful narrative that brings great depth to Verdi’s drama. The leading roles are performed by soprano Nadine Sierra, tenor Javier Camarena, and baritone Artur Ruciński, all under the musical direction of Giacomo Sagripanti.
Meanwhile, My Opera Player will feature Puccini’s Turandot in the iconic production by Bob Wilson —master of visual theatre, who passed away on July 31— with musical direction by Nicola Luisotti, starring sopranos Irene Theorin (Turandot) and Yolanda Auyanet (Liù), and tenor Gregory Kunde (Calaf).
A digital window into the world of opera
The Liceu OPERA+ platform already offers all the content of the 2024/2025 digital season, with productions such as La traviata —starring Nadine Sierra and Javier Camarena—, Lohengrin —starring Miina-Liisa Värelä and Klaus Florian Vogt—, and La sonnambula —starring Nadine Sierra and Xabier Anduaga—.
For the current season, subscribers can already enjoy titles such as Janáček’s The Cunning Little Vixen with Peter Mattei and Elena Tsallagova; and coming soon, Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore with Pretty Yende and Javier Camarena; Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde with Clay Hilley and Lise Davidsen; Ponchielli’s La gioconda with Saioa Hernández and Michael Fabiano; Manon Lescaut with Asmik Grigorian, Joshua Guerrero, and Iurii Samoilov; and Le nozze di Figaro with Sara Blanch and Konstantin Krimmel.
