Agreement for the renewal of audiovisual rights for the Orchestra and Choir of the Liceu, the stable musical groups of the Theatre.
The Board of Trustees of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, presided over by Salvador Alemany and attended by the acting President of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, approved yesterday an agreement for the renewal of audiovisual rights for the Orchestra and Choir of the Liceu, the stable musical groups of the Theatre.
This milestone, the result of the collective effort and determination of all involved parties, reflects a common desire to establish long-term agreements that allow the institution to focus on an ambitious audiovisual future, as well as accessibility for all audiences. This agreement means that the artistic groups jointly and exclusively transfer to the Liceu all their exploitation rights (reproduction, distribution, public communication, and interactive availability) by any means and modality, including the internet.
This transfer of rights has a duration of 10 years, with 5-year extensions, and covers the universal territorial scope for the entire protection period of the rights until their entry into the public domain. This understanding gives the green light to resume all audiovisual activities of the Theatre, as well as the broadcast of the 'Classical on the Beach' concert, which will take place on July 12 at Sant Sebastià beach and will be broadcast through Betevé, Canal 33, and Catalunya Música.
This agreement also opens the door to the reactivation of the LICEU+LIVE programming, about which the Liceu will provide further information soon. Starting next season, radio broadcasts will also resume. Economically, the agreement consists of a fixed part, in line with the agreements of the last 10 years, and a variable part depending on the income generated by the audiovisual platform.
The established contract complies with the current regulatory and budgetary framework, respecting the institution's principle of financial prudence and the community legislation on intellectual property.
