'Rusalka' by Antonín Dvořák, first live broadcast on the Liceu Opera+ digital platform

Barcelona, July 1, 2025

On July 4, Rusalka by Dvořák will be broadcast live, with stage direction by Christof Loy and musical direction by Josep Pons, featuring Asmik Grigorian and Piotr Beczała on Liceu OPERA+. The platform, relaunched in March, offers a digital subscription with 12 titles for 60 euros until July 31, and 90 euros thereafter. Ramon Gener will host the performance, interviewing the main artists.

This Friday, July 4, marks the first live broadcast of the digital season at the Gran Teatre del Liceu. Subscribers to Liceu OPERA+ will be able to watch Rusalka by Antonín Dvořák live, with top image and sound quality, and hosted by Ramon Gener, who will interview the leading artists backstage. Subscribers will also enjoy a live chat moderated by journalist and music critic Javier Blánquez, where they can discuss the most notable aspects of the opera.

The broadcast will begin at 6:30 PM and will be available exclusively for digital subscribers at www.liceuoperaplus.com. There is also the option to purchase access to just this opera and watch the live performance by buying the digital ticket through the same website.

Both digital subscribers and single-opera purchasers will be able to enjoy the live stream and, about a month later, a specially edited version. This version includes exclusive features from the Liceu's digital platform: multi-camera selection, subtitles, artistic and musical commentary, and on-screen score tracking. All of this makes LiceuOpera+ a unique platform in the international opera and classical music streaming scene.

12 titles in the Liceu's digital season

The digital subscription includes 6 major productions from the 24/25 season: Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk and Lohengrin, led by the Liceu; the co-productions La sonnambula and Rusalka, which will premiere at the Theatre, and the classic Madama Butterfly. Audiences can also relive one of this season’s great successes, La traviata, featuring the unforgettable voices of Nadine Sierra and Xabier Anduaga.

The new 25/26 season will kick off with the live broadcast of The Cunning Little Vixen (30/09/25), followed by L’elisir d’amore (05/12/25), Tristan und Isolde (31/01/26), La Gioconda (26/02/26), Manon Lescaut (29/03/26), and Le nozze di Figaro (13/06/26).

In addition, next season LiceuOpera+ will include both historic productions from El Petit Liceu and more recent titles, which will be unveiled progressively over the season.

Liceu OPERA+ enhances access to opera by removing barriers such as cost and distance, while promoting the international reach of its artistic programming and enriching the operatic experience. The digital subscription, which includes all 12 titles, is available at a promotional price of €60 until July 31. After that, the cost will be €90.
