Three small-format operas to be presented in a single evening.
With the collaboration of the Culture and Creative Industries Department of the Barcelona City Council, the Disseny Hub Barcelona, and design schools in the city.
Òh!pera is a project promoted by the Gran Teatre del Liceu in which three small-format operas are designed to be presented in a single evening.
A group of young creative teams, selected with the collaboration of four design schools in Barcelona, will have worked for over a year to design these highly energetic operas, each lasting approximately 30 minutes. As they wander through the depths of the Theatre, the audience will encounter the stories of voices trapped in the irreversible cracks of their traumas, unconfessable secrets, or impossible dreams.
Expectations that will be shared with an audience experiencing this journey with the intensity of proximity. Composers connected to Barcelona will write based on librettos by prominent playwrights; young stage directors will work with theater, design, and applied arts schools to create their productions; local singers; small chamber ensembles emerging from the Liceu Conservatory...
A first opportunity at the Liceu and a true challenge for the creators of the future. The Liceu is launching a collaboration with the Department of Culture and Creative Industries of the Barcelona City Council, the Disseny Hub Barcelona, and the city's design schools to promote learning through practice.
Àlex Ollé will be the project mentor.
