Born in Sallent and later settled in Valls, tenor Roger Padullés began his vocal training at the Escolania de Montserrat. He continued his studies at the Cambrils School of Music and performed with various choral ensembles such as the Verge del Camí choir of Cambrils and the Capella Príncep de Viana. As a soloist, and drawn to German Lied, he moved to Freiburg im Breisgau (Germany) to study singing with R. Pinheiro, supported by a scholarship from the Generalitat de Catalunya. In 2009 he won the Second Prize at the Francesc Viñas International Competition, as well as the Plácido Domingo Award.
After his time in Freiburg, he completed his operatic training at the Opéra-studio of the Strasbourg theatre (France) and soon began a professional career that has taken him to perform, among others, at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the Teatro Municipal de Santiago de Chile, the Opéra National du Rhin, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Capitole de Toulouse and the Palau de les Arts in Valencia, where he has worked under conductors such as Zubin Mehta and stage directors such as Peter Brook or Christoph Marthaler.
In parallel, he also performs in Lied and Oratorio concerts in venues such as the Capitole de Toulouse, the Opéra National du Rhin in Strasbourg or the Rosenblatt Recital Series in London. In 2015 he received the Enderrock Award for Best Classical Album for Mompou Songs, granted by the critics; and in 2017, 2018 and 2019 the Enderrock Award, by popular vote, also for Best Classical Album for Tossudament Llach, Cançó d’amor i de guerra and Llull, respectively.
Roger Padullés has also written and stage-directed some of his most recent productions, such as Händel. Eclipsi total, Emili Vendrell, la veu del poble and Dones d’òpera with the Èulia choir of Valls, L’Enigma Garreta, and he has created and directed a participatory adaptation of Mozart’s The Magic Flute on the occasion of the 2022 Decennals of Valls.
He made his debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in the 2007/08 season with Lucrezia Borgia, and has returned several times with titles such as Le nozze di Figaro (2011/12), La favorite (2017/18), Les contes d’Hoffmann (2020/21), Ariadne auf Naxos and Die Zauberflöte (2021/22), El monstre al laberint (2021/22 and 2022/23), The Cunning Little Vixen and Tristan und Isolde (2025/26).
