Maria Callas. A Greek Tragedy

Maria Callas is reborn in a SIMFONOVA concert that explores her voice and her life

This new SIMFONOVA concert, dedicated to the figure of Maria Callas, not only features the operatic moments that made the great soprano shine the most, but also aims to explain the reason for her artistic uniqueness and, through her own words, the characteristics of a harsh life which, while enabling the expressiveness and power she conveyed on stage, also created the vulnerable and insecure woman who was always behind the scenes.

On this occasion, in the script prepared and presented on stage by communicator Marcel Gorgori, the figure of Maria Callas herself takes center stage in the performance, portrayed by the acclaimed actress Montse Guallar, who tells her tragic life in the first person and, at the same time, justifies each of the interpretations that make up the concert.

This time, three exceptional solo voices take the lead in the operatic performances, rising to the challenge they face. They are soprano Sara Bañeras, soprano Eugènia Montenegro, and mezzo-soprano Laura Vila. Once again, the Orquestra Barcelona Filharmonia and the Orfeó Vigatà, conducted by SIMFONOVA’s maestro and musical director Daniel Antolí, are a fundamental part of this show about the greatest myth the history of opera has given: Maria Callas.
