In accordance with the provisions of Articles 3 and 4 of the Bylaws, the purposes and mission of the Gran Teatre del Liceu Foundation are:
Article 3
The purpose of the Foundation is, broadly speaking, to promote and carry out all initiatives that contribute to the encouragement and strengthening of culture, and more specifically, opera, the cultivation of which has historically been one of the distinguishing features of Barcelona, and which has established the Gran Teatre del Liceu as one of the most prestigious centers worldwide.
More specifically, the Foundation’s purposes include: contributing to the artistic and cultural development of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, as well as its funding; organizing and financing the theater’s regular seasons; promoting a passion for the art of opera in all its forms; contributing to the composition of operatic works and the training of professionals in the sector; organizing activities and performances of opera, dance, and concerts, as well as other cultural expressions.
These activities may be carried out anywhere; however, in accordance with the purpose of its creation, the ordinary headquarters for its activities will be the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona.
Article 4
The Foundation’s activities in pursuing its purposes will benefit professionals and opera enthusiasts. Any aid granted to individuals in the course of its activities will be awarded exclusively based on merit.
