Moldavan-born soprano Valentina Nafornita began her studies in Bucharest. As a member of the Staatsoper ensemble in Vienna at the start of her career, she had a chance to sing a wide range of roles which have remained in her repertory, including Papagena and Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Musetta (La bohème), Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro) and Zerlina (Don Giovanni).
Her most recent engagements have taken her back to Vienna to sing Helena (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) and to Lausanne as Adina (L’elisir d’amore).
We have seen her once before at the Liceu, in Don Pasquale in the 2014/15 season.
