Japanese ballerina who began training at age eight and studied at the Shanghai Ballet School and National Ballet School of Canada after winning the 2000 Prix de Lausanne. She danced with the American Ballet Theatre for fifteen years and has been principal at Houston Ballet since 2014. Noted for roles such as Giselle, Odette/Odile, Kitri, and Cio-Cio San.
