A metaphor about the domestication of nature

September 19, 2024
Main hall

Femenía will artificially create the illusion of a rainbow over the main hall of the Gran Teatre del Liceu. A metaphor about the domestication of nature: an old dream of humanity.

Inma Femenía has gained recognition for her work, which connects matter and visual perception, highlighting the connection with the digital realm. Her research into the relationship between art and industry has made her a unique voice in the current scene. She works with the intrinsic properties of materials (shine, transparency, ductility) and their relationship with light (both through its technological manifestation on screens and natural luminous phenomena).

This leads her to manipulate materials until they reach the threshold where their properties merge with the intervention of the digital. This experimentation stems from questions about how our perception is conditioned by the reality that surrounds us, particularly in the face of technological influence, focusing her research on the relationship between the material and the intangible. She offers perceptual experiences through installations or sculptures that propose different modes of apprehending reality. Each new project presents new challenges to overcome regarding location, environment, light, or the vibrations transmitted by the place itself.
