Daniela Barcellona was born in Trieste, where she completed her musical studies under the guidance of Alessandro Vitiello. After winning numerous international competitions, she made her debut in the title role of Tancredi in Pesaro, establishing herself as a reference interpreter for “en travesti” roles, which have brought her to walk the most prestigious opera houses worldwide.
Prized with the “Premio Abbiati”, she has worked with some of the greatest conductors and stage directors. Her recorded works include albums dedicated to Scarlatti, Pergolesi, Rossini, Mayr, Meyerbeer, as well as Verdi's Requiem and Falstaff, Berlioz's Les Troyens and a complete studio recording of Rossini’s Semiramide that won several prizes. Some of the awards she has been granted include also “Lucia Valentini-Terrani”, “Aureliano Pertile”, “International Opera Award”, “CD Classica”, “Rossini d’oro”, “San Giusto d’Oro”, “Sigillo trecentesco di Trieste”, “Oscar della lirica”, “Laurence Olivier Award”, “Pesaro Music Award” “Tutto Verdi International Award”.
She debuted at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in the 2005/06 season with Semiramide and has returned for a recital (2006/07), Handel Concerto (2008/09), La favorite (2017/18), Il trittico (2022/23) and Un ballo in maschera (2023/24).
